Population is total number of people living in a geographical area at a particular time.

Factors Affecting Population Growth

The following are the factors affect the population growth of an area:

  1. Birth/Natality Rate
  2. Death/Mortality Rate
  3. Migration (Emigration and Immigration)

Population census

Population census is the head count of the people. Population census mostly occurs after every ten (10) years (depending on each country anyway)

Types of Population Census

  1. De facto : This is the head count of people that are physically present in a country at a particular time.
  2. De-Jure : These are the permanent residence/citizen of a particular country. Even if they are not present in the country as of the time of census taking place, they will be counted.
