The British Council in Nigeria, in collaboration with the Cambridge University Press and Assessment, has recognised the outstanding achievements of 110 students from 45 schools across the country. Of the students who participated in the exam from all over the world, 11 students from Nigeria scored the highest overall.

On Friday, dignitaries, parents, and student awardees attended the British Council Recognition and Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards (BROCLA) 2022 in Lagos, where they received 157 Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards for their outstanding performance in the June and November 2021 Cambridge examination series.

The coveted prizes covered a wide range of courses from Cambridge IGCSEs to Cambridge O Levels to Cambridge International AS and A Levels.

Lucy Pearson, Country Director, British Council Nigeria, stated that the British Council in Nigeria was honoured to work with partner schools in offering UK assessments and qualifications in Nigeria in partnership with partners Cambridge University Press and Assessment International Education.

“Across the years, the tests have continued to help people all over the world acquire educational and professional growth, so they are better positioned for success in life and their vocations,” she added. Education is a critical enabler of these opportunities, and we believe in providing young learners with world-class education and assessments, which we have accomplished through our partners Cambridge University Press and Assessment International Education, as well as the British Council Partner School.”

Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo, the Commissioner for Education for Lagos State, who was present at the award ceremony, said she was glad to be celebrating with the honorees and to recognise the feat and success of all students who completed the Cambridge tests.

“Today’s prizes reflect the grandeur embodied in our children’s lives.” “We also recognise all of the other recipients in the ‘Top in the World’ category, as well as the partner schools that have displayed Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion policies,” she stated.

The award winners included 11 students from eight schools who got the top marks in the globe in courses such as Sociology, Information and Communication Technology, and Business Studies, earning the title “Top in the World.” Cambridge International also bestowed 81 ‘Top in Nigeria’ awards on students who received the highest standard mark in their country for a single subject, 57 ‘High Achievement’ awards, and 8 ‘Best Across’ awards on students who received the highest cumulative total standard marks across a specified number of subjects.

Vitalis Nwaogu, Country Manager for Cambridge University Press & Assessment Nigeria, congratulated the students, teachers, and principals in his remarks.
